2. The first European castle powered by electricity

romanian lessons

As you can see, Romanians are ambitious and always reach the top for the wonderful things they do. Not only in sports they achieve performance, but also in terms of inventions and cultural beauty. Peles Castle, for example, is a building of impressive grandeur, surrounded by an exceptional landscape. At the same time, it is good to know that this castle has been, since the end of the 19th century, among the only ones in Europe that benefited from electricity, but also a modern elevator and heating. Until you came to visit it, you will find many productions that were filmed in this castle.

3. Romania has its Arch of Triumph too!

romanian lessons

Surely you have heard (and maybe even seen) the Arch of Triumph in France, but what you did not know is that Romania has one too! The two monumental buildings are almost identical, but the one in Romania is made to a smaller size and was inspired by the one in France. It integrates perfectly into the landscape, especially since the city of Bucharest is also called Little Paris.

4. The merry cemetery

romanian lessons

A famous cemetery is a place you must visit if you arrive in beautiful Romania! Romanians have a fantastic sense of humor, and life is lived by them in a very special way! So here you will be surprised by the beautiful colors on the tombstones, but also by the funny messages written on them! It is a place of great value, unique in the world, so tourists from all over come and wonder. If you know Romanian words, you will read beautiful and funny poems that talk about people’s lives. The Mother-in-law’s Cross is one of the most popular, but you will also find other impressive stories of the people from the village.

5. The tallest wooden church

romanian lessons

What Romanians make of wood is called art! Not only the beautiful tombs in the Merry Cemetery but also the most spectacular churches, true oases of peace! It is a special place where tourists from all over the world come every year to admire it. Surrounded by nature, the church delights you not only with its structure but also with many species of trees and flowers. It’s a place where you can truly disconnect from your daily routine and find answers to unspoken questions.

6. Very fast internet

7. Palace of the Parliament, one of the largest administrative buildings in the world

romanian lessons

The People’s House, as it was known during the communist era, is the second-largest administrative building in the world, surpassed only by the Pentagon. It is a place that impresses with both its interior and exterior appearance. In front of it, you will be amazed by its grandeur, and inside you will discover only luxury: collectible furniture, marble, chandeliers, but also sculptures. What is interesting to note is that this building is a symbol of a tragic period in the history of Romania, and after the end of the communist regime, its inhabitants wanted to demolish it. It remains, however, a sign of that era, a reminder of those who once were.

8. The most beautiful road

romanian lessons

One of the most spectacular roads in the world is in Romania! In addition to the adventurous road, you will also enjoy breathtaking landscapes. And, as a bonus, you will get great pictures to post on Instagram! The 150-kilometer road attracts many adventure and racing enthusiasts, and the BBC’s Top Gear confirms this.

romanian lessons

Those who love books, but also beauty, will find themselves at home in this place! Located in Bucharest, the Cărturești Carusel bookstore is a truly magical place. In addition to the many books that you can find here, the building will impress you. It is a wonderful, imposing construction, located right in the heart of the Romanian capital, so you can’t miss it!

10. Our own Hollywood sign

romanian lessons

The Arc de Triomphe, as well as the Hollywood sign, can be found in Romania, but in Romanian style. In Brașov, you will find, on Mount Tâmpa, the famous bright letters that form the name of this beautiful city. It is a symbol of the city, but also a sign to climb to the top! I promise you that in the end, the effort is worth it: the view from above is spectacular, you can see the whole city. You can climb either by cable car or on foot if you are brave.

What do you say about these things or, better said, reasons to visit Romania? If I convinced you, make sure you know a few words in Romanian! Romanians don’t like anything more than guests from other countries who greet them with Bună dimineața! I am waiting for you at the online Romanian language courses!
